Many years ago, our two families embarked on an unforgettable adventure to Cape Lookout National Seashore. With our 4-wheelers and camping gear packed, we loaded the ferry for a journey filled with excitement and discovery. Little did we know, we were about to create lasting memories in one of North Carolina's most picturesque destinations.

As the morning sun gently rose, we emerged from our tents to a breathtaking sight—the vast expanse of the ocean stretched out before us, painting the horizon with hues of pink and blue. The salty breeze carried with it the promise of adventure, we wasted no time hopping on our ATV's and setting out to explore the island.
One of the highlights of our journey was reaching the southern tip of the island, where the crystal-clear waters mirrored the allure of tropical paradises. Dolphins played in the distance, while a stingray gracefully glided through the shallow water. Shelling on this island is a must, just make sure nothing is living inside of them before you take them home! As day turned into night, we were treated to nature's grand spectacle—the fiery hues of sunset casting a spellbinding glow over the landscape. And when dawn broke once again, we were greeted by the soft light of sunrise, a gentle reminder of the beauty that surrounds us.
Things to Do at Cape Lookout
Take a ride to the end of the island to explore the lighthouse, the tip of the island, and bathe in the clear blue water. The water at the tip of the island is very clear, we spotted sting rays, starfish, fish, and were able to collect a lot of beautiful shells on our trip.
Soak up the sun and enjoy the sounds of nature!
Catch a sunset and a sunrise!
A short boat ride away is Shackleford Banks, this island is inhabited by wild horses. Watching these majestic creatures roam freely against the backdrop of the ocean is a sight to behold. The free spirit of these beautiful creatures speaks to the soul.
